What is the inspiration behind becoming an influencer? I feel I was already and always a person of influence. I am an artist who influences by being. People, where I grew up, my experiences; all influence me to help people become. A friend of mine said “inspire impact” to me and that right there is a direct reflection of my influence. Aspiring to inspire impact in the city and borough I grew up in.
When did you first know you wanted to become creative and what was the point that really made you go for it? Growing up I was an athlete and dancer; on my down time, all I ever did was draw people and things and by the time I was in college playing basketball I had realized I wanted my down time hobby to be a full fledged lifestyle for me, opposed to continuing my studies. I felt like I can be a better teacher to the world around me rather than just one in a classroom.
What’s the best and what’s the hardest part about finding your passion? The joy of being able to create something from my mind and make it something tangible has been the greatest part of living in my passion. Where as making sure people don’t steal my joy for what I do away from me to not want to hide my passion for creation. I’ve found my passion to stick around longer when I create silently.
What are some of your biggest fears that you faced when started in the entertainment industry? One of my biggest fears particularly has always been in the industry not allowing me to speak my truth without perceiving an image created prior to getting to truly know me and my art. Today, I stand on all ten about everything I do.
Where do you go or what do you do for inspiration when working on a new project? The greatest inspiration is life itself; allowing myself to live and then create. Everything has its season and when I think I have writers block, I just step outside to breathe and experience the real world.
What advice can you give to aspiring artists? Never let anyone play on your name. Never allow someone to paint an image of you that is false and not defend yourself properly. If you want to be a successful artist, you must believe in yourself beyond anyone else’s criticism and expectations. Most people can’t see as far as you do because it truly is YOUR journey.
